Hello Caférs... As you may have noticed, we've had some technical difficulties since the 25th of September. I'm sorry for these, but wanted to try and give a brief explanation of why they'd occured so we're all on the same page.
During the time that Rebecca and I have been running the site and before we took over, there have been occasional problems with the server of the web hosting company that we pay to host the site located in New Jersey (For those geeks like me out there:
Zombie PHP processes).
Well, after listening to me moan to them about it for some time, they decided to actually change us over to another machine where they estimated that this problem wouldn't happen. After the change, things had worked wonderfully and I was enjoying the new flexibility as you may have noticed (new banners on the Forum and main site) and some other less visual changes as well.
Well, last week on the 25th, we were mysteriously switched back to the original web server with a database backup from the 20th. That's why 5 days worth of posts mysteriously disappeared along with my cool new banners. Needless to say, I called and raised 'holy infierno' with the hosting company and have the Telefónica bills to prove it...
Well, last night, they appear to have switched us back to the new server again, but they forgot to give us database access privileges, hence the error message you may have seen upon trying to access the site. (Thanks for the heads up Michelle! B)) Anyway, I was able to fix that part myself, and we've even recovered many of the lost posts....But...
....All is not well yet as: 1) we're still missing some recent posts, some of which I will add manually because they were successfully relayed to my email account in time and 2) another database I'd created to work with the site SW upgrade is missing! :angry: As you can guess, this is a job for 'infierno-man' and I'm on the case... Bear with me though. I was in a meeting in Paris yesterday and am back on Spanish soil today and trying to catch up with everything...
We're a tight knit family around here and I wanted to give you guys an explanation. We've had some awesome posting weeks of late! Please don't stop. We're really doing some cool stuff around here... Keep that momentum going!!!
