Telefónica Group Language Consultant Group Update
« on: July 29, 2002, 07:41:00 PM »
Hi everyone. Instead of adding to the previous thread on the [!-- BBCode Start --][!-- BBCode Start --]T[!-- BBCode End --]elefónica [!-- BBCode Start --]G[!-- BBCode End --]roup [!-- BBCode Start --]L[!-- BBCode End --]anguage [!-- BBCode Start --]C[!-- BBCode End --]onsultant [!-- BBCode Start --]P[!-- BBCode End --]roject[!-- BBCode End --], I want to start a new one. Firstly, I want to let everyone know that we’ve held a first round of interviews which went well and hope to hold one more before we take a break until the first of September.

We believe that we will need a significant number of professors for our initial roll-out slated for September. This is a fantastic opportunity if you want to join a team that plans to change the way English is taught in this city. [!-- BBCode Start --]I would still like to receive any CV’s from those who have not previously sent me one[!-- BBCode End --], but now [!-- BBCode Start --]I would also like to hear from all those who are either living in Madrid at the moment or will be living in Madrid by September so we can arrange to interview you[!-- BBCode End --]. I can be emailed at  [!-- BBCode Start --][A HREF=\"mailto:tonytorero@onspanishtime.com\"]tonytorero@onspanishtime.com[/A][!-- BBCode End --] .

As I mentioned previously, the position we are creating for Telefonica Group is one that will involve dynamic, energetic team members that are not only capable of creating an English speaking environment involving teaching English to professionals, but also capable of providing translation support as well. Though it would be wonderful if all of our team members could do both, [!-- BBCode Start --]you will not be discarded if you’re a fantastic ESL teacher who is not capable of translating or vice-versa[!-- BBCode End --].

One thing I should mention is that the positions we are seeking to fill are all located exclusively in Madrid.

This sounds like a great opportunity, Tonytorero! But I have one question. Would you accept a CV from someone in Barcelona, for example, who\\\'d be willing to move down to Madrid?

Also, could you post any other details, like salary, contract info, daily/weekly working hours.
Thanks so much!

Hi Tracy and everyone else! :-D Actually, I\\\'ve received CV\\\'s from people in Barcelona, Girona, Marbella as well as other parts of Europe and the US, etc. So, [!-- BBCode Start --]yes[!-- BBCode End --]. We are quite interested in speaking to qualified candidates interested in coming to Madrid and working on the project.

Specific schedule and pay issues are getting clearer by the day, though there are several points still be negotiated and this will continue into September. What I can tell everyone at this time is that we anticipate that this position will be able to pay a full time consultant in the vicinity of 2,300 to 2,800 euros per month (Perhaps even a bit more). However, specific rates for the next school year have not been finalized. Let\\\'s just say that this is also a rather important issue. I\\\'m keeping candidates informed as to the status of negotiations.

Though, we envision turning the position into a full-time 9-5 position where a consultant works primarily at one location, this doesn\\\'t mean that there won\\\'t also be evening hours available that need to be covered as well.

The truth of the matter is that the concept we have proposed of a full-time, dedicated linguistic consultant is a mentality and philosophy that is not currently in practice in Spain and, though we are certain it will be successful, it obviously takes time to sell and integrate this idea and mentality to old school corporate executives. I will say though that they\\\'ve been quite open to what we\\\'ve proposed thus far, which has been refreshing. We\\\'re working on it and will continue to do so!  ;-)

I just happened to run into this thread today and I was wondering if you are still accepting CV\'s. I\'m 22 years old and graduated from college in May. I\'ll be doing a CELTA course in September at IH Madrid and plan on staying in Madrid after the course. I\'m an American but I spent a year abroad in Spain and my Spanish is fluent. This opportunity sounds unbelieveable. I\'d love to send you a CV if you\'re still accpeting them.

Thanks,

[!-- BBCode Start --]oops... Hi Tracy... One change there to what you wrote in your previous post... My email address is: [!-- BBCode Start --][A HREF=\"mailto:tonytorero@onspanishtime.com\"]tonytorero@onspanishtime.com[/A][!-- BBCode End --] , not [!-- BBCode Start --]HOTMAIL.COM[!-- BBCode End --][!-- BBCode End --]. [!-- BBCode Start --]Once upon a time, I did have a hotmail account, but I haven\'t used it in ages.[!-- BBCode End --]

Hey Matt...Thanks Tracy...Yes, still accepting and yes, we\'re still looking to get things up and going in September. We believe we\'re primed to start off with a bang and we\'re really looking forward to it!

If you\'ll be in Madrid from September on and you teach and/or translate, send me a CV. We plan to conduct a lot of interviews throughout the month of September. I\'m trying to respond to people that have sent me their CV as fast as I can. Please be patient though.  [IMG SRC=\"modules/phpBB_14/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif\"]

Kudos to Tracy for the Forum where we can get the word out. Thanks!![addsig]
