student visa?
« on: May 15, 2003, 04:31:00 AM »
Hi Everyone!  I\'m trying to find a way to live and work in Spain next year (hopefully semi-legally), and its a frustrating process!  My question is: have any of you managed to get a student visa for Spain after college?  I would like to sign up for classes at a public univeristy in Spain (U-Salamanca, or U-Complutense (sp?) in Madrid, for example) as a way to get a visa and live there legally. Do you think I have a chance of getting a visa that way?  Can I work part time legally with a student visa?

Also, I have a one-way ticket to Madrid at the end of June to take a CELTA course, and I\'m wondering if there\'s any way to stay there and apply for my visa while I\'m in Spain.  I know that\'s officially a no-no, but it seems to me that there has to be SOME kind of way around that problem.

Any advice would be appriciated!

Suerte a todos,

keep in mind when you apply that public universities are by law only allowed to enroll 5% of non-EU students. You may want to apply to a private college as a backup.

No, you cannot work legally on a student visa. But you can always work under the table and if you\'re serious about staying in Spain, maybe you\'ll make some connections through your university that will help you find legal work.

To get a student visa you have to apply from your home country no more than 90 days and no less than 30 days before you leave so no, you cannot apply from Spain.
