Moving 2 Madrid Article
« on: January 24, 2012, 04:31:19 PM »
I was doing some research on Madrid (since that is my first choice) and I came across this really good link.  The last article published on the link was January 16, 2012.  So it is up to date.  Some do date back from June 2011.  The author says he is a former expat.  Idk if he went through this program but nonetheless the information is really good; especially if you are doing research (or will be doing research once you get your placement) for a place/neighborhoods to live in one you land in Madrid.  He describes each neighborhood thoroughly.  Here is the link to the neighborhoods:

The actual home page is http://moving2madrid.com/

His contact information is on there; so I guess if you wanted to contact him with personal questions you could.  I haven't.  So idk if his contact info is valid.

Also, one can find useful articles regardless if you plan on living in Madrid or not.  I'm pretty sure Madrid will be on a lot of people's travel list.

Thanks for the link. My first choice is also Madrid as well so it's very helpful.

Does anyone know when we will find out what area our schools will be? That will be a pretty large factor into our decisions on where to live.

I'm not trying to go to Madrid at all but his advice for learning Spanish was pretty good!

I'm pretty sure we will be accepted into the program in March/April, but you won't find out your region/school until June.  In the meantime, you can always check out idealista.com to look at what barrios and living areas are in/around your city and to get an idea of what it looks like

I'm pretty sure they'll start sending us info about placements in April. We won't get our official placement letters until June.
