2nd year's vs. 1st year applicants
« on: November 09, 2011, 01:12:28 AM »
I was just thinking... the program accepts 2,000 applicants each year and the people who are already over there have priority if they want to stay a second year and have good recomendations.. So if 1,500 people want to stay a second year, does that mean they only accept 500 new applicants?  and what if 1,800 people what to do it again? does that mean only 200 new?

I wouldn't be worried if I were you. On the website, it says that over 2.000 positions are available but during the 2011-2012 school year, the number of positions offered was actually closer to 2.700. You must also keep in mind that there are second-year assistants who will be leaving after this year; and that many first-year assistants will be returning home too. There are quite a few applicants who decide to decline a position as well. Your chances of getting in are very good as long as your inscrita number is below or around 2.000.

Do second year applicants have to go through the same process of getting an inscrita number or do they bypass that whole application process never getting an inscrita number??

Thanks,

AF

2nd years aren't included in that. You get a number, but it's different. The renewal process hasn't opened up yet, it's a totally different process.

Don't worry, I've never heard of anyone NOT getting a placement. So many people's plans change between now and next September. If you apply, you'll probably get it.

Thanks, that's good to know. I guess I was trying to gauge what the chances of getting placed in either Catalunya or Madrid were based on inscrita number (I'm in the 500's)...I believe some comunidads like Valencia didn't even get new placements this year, as the positions were filled by those wishing to continue in the program for a second year (Valencia and Catalunya have far fewer openings to begin with though).
