I know a family who lives in Madrid who is looking for a native English speaker to teach their children during vacation.
In exchange for giving lessons for a couple of hours 5 days a week in July and/or August, they are offering a private apartment in a charming pueblo with a beautiful landscape in the province of Avila. This would be a great way to immerse yourself before beginning the Auxiliares program in the fall, as there are basically no native English speakers in town. There is also the opportunity to give private classes to other people in the pueblo and earn a little extra cash.
In September they are also interested in hiring a teacher, but during this month you would be living with the family in a chalet outside of Madrid. For those of you who will be auxiliares in Madrid, it would be an excellent opportunity to have a place to stay (rent-free!) while you search for an apartment in the center (which is typically a long and grueling process, trust me).
Overall it would be a great experience, and they already have various successful years behind them with past auxiliares.
