Southern Spain (Cadiz)
« on: February 25, 2003, 08:04:00 AM »
Hola,

I just joined this site, so obviously this is my first posting.  I am moving to to Cadiz in July.  My Spanish girlfriend lived here with me in Alexandria, VA, just outside of DC. for five years and now it is my turn to live in Spain for a few years.  Luckily for me I have her and her very large family as support system.  I have been there four times, it is beautiful.  We will probably buy a place in either Jerez de Frontera or El Puerto de Santa Maria.  If any of you are moving to that area or anywhere in Cadiz, we would be happy to help you out with anything.  DJ [IMG SRC=\"modules/phpBB_14/images/smiles/icon_beer.gif\"] [!-- BBCode Start --][A HREF=\"mailto:dwj2344@aol.com\"]dwj2344@aol.com[/A][!-- BBCode End --][addsig]

Hi dw!

I´m in that area and think it is good, but not sure for the long term. Are winters really dreary, with much rain? I came this year end of winter, beginning spring and was surprised by all the rain and cloudy days, though I still loved it -- just don´t do well with clouds & rain -- moved from Seattle, WA USA and don´t want similar weather here!

Anyways, this area is fun, the people great and crime low (except for summer thefts...) plus a lot of activities for kids...

Any input you could give appreciated... wondering if salaries are much lower here as well since has high unemployment rate?
