I submitted without documents. Freaking out, because, no you cannot go back and uploaded documents.

I think you might be able to.  Try going in as if you were applying, then when it brings you to the screen where it has all your info from applying, click on the magnify glass and square picture, and it brings you to the page, and it looks like you can upload documents? Worth a shot.

Wait, we have to upload the letter of recommendation?  I thought we had to mail that in as a hard copy?  I haven't submitted my application yet (waiting for my transcript so I can scan and upload that), but now I'm freaking out because I haven't even asked my professor for a letter of recommendation yet, thinking I had some time to send it in later as a hard copy.  Can someone who's completed the application tell me whether I have to upload the letter or whether I can still mail it in?  It says so explicitly in the manual that you send it in as a hard copy...

You don't need the letter of recommendation yet.  But you do need to check the box off on the application or it won't let you proceed forward.  You mail in a hard copy of the recommendation later.

Thank you!  That's a huge relief.

Well, I just applied, got my inscrita number and everything...but didn't upload any of my documents.  I have a feeling I shouldn't have done that, but I've heard lots of people saying to just leave the documents off in order to get my inscrita number sooner.  Guess I'm going to have to email my documents in and call Monday--does anyone have any ideas if this is completely unacceptable or no?

Have you heard back from them about how to upload them now?

I didn't address my statement of purpose to anyone! I don't think I can go back and upload any new documents (I uploaded it on the CV part, not the actual 2012 application).
Anyone know what I can do?
Please and thank you!

I didn't address mine to anyone either! What should I do about this?

Hello fellow candidate hopefuls I am currently filling out the application and I'm under the section "Formacion de academica" and the instructions (annex a) say do not check off "C.A.P" and I do not have anything to fill in for "titulos espanoles" either. The problem is that it wont let me proceed until one of the two are filled in...any advice? Thanks a lot in advance.

I don't think it should be too big of a deal because based on where you live I think they will just send it to that person anyways.

For mine I put my university under "otros centros" and my major under "Títulos no recogidos en el apartado anterior" and it let me go through.

Thank you for the prompt response...Another question for anyone who may be willing to answer... Do you think it is okay if the recommendation letter is just "generic" in that it doesn't necessary make mention of traveling abroad or the program? It does however endorse me as a professional...Also it doesn't have an actual signature since it was typed up, anyone know if this is okay? Thanks in advance...

I applied for the program about 2 weeks ago, and since then, I've (not so actively) been trying to figure out exactly which documents are to be mailed in hard copy and where to.

I know things have changed since I looked into this last year (there were about a thousand papers you needed to mail then). The problem is that the link for the new manual doesn't work, and I'm not quite sure where else I can find the information.

Even if someone could recommend an email address that I can contact, that would be helpful. I just can't find this information anywhere.

Thanks

It's working for me.  Are you sure this is the link you used?
If it's still not working for you here's the hard copy info:

1.3.1 Hard copies
1. The PDF printout (signed and dated) available after you submit your application
online (See Annex A on our Web page)
2. If you live in the state of New York, you will have to submit the document
included in annex 8.

1.3.3 Documents to be either uploaded or mailed.

7. A one page letter of recommendation, in English or Spanish, from any current
or former professor or, if you have been out of school for over five years, from
your supervisor at work. This document can be mailed separately, should your
professor wish to send it to us personally. Nevertheless, it can be sent together
with the pdf printout (point 1). The letter must be on letterhead and signed.

Okay, when you are in the curriculum part of the application, scroll down to documentos anexos and click on that.

Right above where it says Consulta Documentos Anexos should be a small greyish-blue button that says ALTA. You've actually seen this button before throughout the application.

Click on ALTA, which opens up the page for you to be able to edit, and you should be able to upload your document.

If you are unable to see the ALTA button, then I think you should contact administration, because there could be a problem with your application.

I really hope this helps!!

no luck with the Alta button!! it goes away once the page has finished loading.  i have tried so many computers this is crazy!! And I emailed asking for help and this was their response :
"Over 1000 candidates have successfully submitted an application so far. Try other computers, use Annex A to guide you and ask another person to give you a hand as sometimes it may be due to an interpretation of the instructions."

AHH I am kind of freaking out now.  I will continue trying other computers....and....? call? gah this is crazy. I can't believe that this has only happened to one person?! multiple computers?!

Have you tried it in other browsers?  Or tried checking your current browser to make sure you don't have any add-ons running that might be blocking the function for you?  That's the only thing I can think of--I've accessed my application from every computer under the sun and have never had that problem.

Are you making sure to try multiple browsers too?  Try all of the major ones: Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer, Opera, and Safari.  Usually any webpage should work in one of the first three.

Also try different operating systems if possible, both a Mac OS and a Windows OS.  I completed mine in Chrome on Windows 7 with no issues.

If that still doesn't work, maybe try starting over with a new account?  I don't know any good reason why the disappearing Alta button would be linked to your account, but who knows...  I think you can use an different piece of identification other than your passport (like a driver's license) to create a second account if need be, or you can contact them to make sure.

Queston:

I applied and got a decent number (numero de solicitud).  However, I am still in the process of getting the rest of my documents and stuff uploaded.  I've send in the .pdf and am in 'Registrada' status.  Do you think they give your preference by your number (numero de solicitud) or once you have sent everything in?  I know like last year you had until the end of a certain date to get everything in.  The latter makes more sense to me but I hear the numero de solicitud holds some weight...  Any and all help is appreciated!

Thanks,

JT

If you look at the posts referencing the "inscrita number" (i.e. the number you get after submitting the online portion of the application), that is the number that essentially determines your position in line for getting placed.  It doesn't matter how leisurely you are in submitting the rest of the documents after you have your inscrita number, as long as you have them in before the deadline.

Regardless of how much sense it makes, the inscrita number doesn't just hold some weight, it holds all of the weight when it comes to getting placed/getting your preferred regions.

I finished my application and sent in all my documents around November 11, does anyone know how long I am going to wait before my application status will change from inscrita? I dont want to worry but at the same time i dont want to wait too long if something is amiss.

I know this question has been addressed time and again, but I am still a bit confused and would really appreciate any advice.

I have completed the CV portion of the application and would like to submit asap, but don't have any of the PDF attachments completed. Can I submit these attachments (the statement of purpose, letter of rec, transcripts, etc) AFTER I submit my application? Meaning, am I allowed to go back and edit this portion of the application? Also, is there a specific medical form that needs to be filled out? Also, is it required that I send PDF attachments AND hard copies of all 5 things?

Thanks!

Pretty much, yes. But you must upload them in the "documentos anexos" section of your curriculum (not in the actualy application for auxiliares).

There is no specific form, and you don't have to discuss anything medically until you start working on your visa. There is a document in the manual that tells you how you should word your letter from your doctor.

I believe you only have to upload 4 things. You can actually upload everything and only mail in your .pdf.

I hope this helps you get everything sorted!! :)

Thanks so much! That definitely clears things up, though is there anyway you could elaborate on the first part. What do you mean 'in the documentos anexos'? How would I do that?

Also, new question. Will your status appear as 'pending' until you submit all materials, both hard copies and PDF files? Then does it change to accepted if all that is approved?

If you submit your application without uploading your required documents (statement of interest, passport page, diploma/transcripts, letter of rec), then you must upload them in "documentos anexos" of the curriculim section. It literally reads, "documentos anexos".

I'm not sure if  I was unclear before, but you don't have to send in any hardcopies at all, minus the .pdf application that is basically just a printoff of the application itself. Your status will read "inscrita" until they receive that .pdf and decide to put your file together. I hoope that helps!

Hey guys,

I am in the process of applying to this program and I was wondering if anyone knows if it will be necessary to submit the letter of recommendation from the professor IN PERSON once I arrive in Spain? Because the guide says that all documents will need to be submitted once again in person in Spain, but it also says that the professor may send the letter of recommendation directly to the office responsible for your state. I'm just a little worried because I asked my professor to send it directly to them, so I don't have a copy...

Thanks!

Haha, I know you! You asked the same question on another board. Why don't you just ask the professor to also sign and mail you another copy? All they would have to do is use the printer, sign it and mail it to you. You have plenty of time before getting to Spain.

I don't know if anything's changed since last year but this year we definitely did not need to re-submit anything once in Spain.  The only documents we needed were the ones related to applying for the NIE/TIE (id card) and, at least for me, that was basically just my passport and acceptance letter.

Hola a todos,

There are countless other threads about people who have been placed. Only renewals are being placed right now. First it was people staying in the same region, now they're doing people who are switching regions. Next it will be first-year applicants. The information that is out there right now is that first years will hear in mid-May.

Because the guide says that all documents will need to be submitted once again in person in Spain, but it also says that the professor may send the letter of recommendation directly to the office responsible for your state. I'm just a little worried because I asked my professor to send it directly to them, so I don't have a copy...

Thanks!

This is an old post but I emailed the Education Office several months ago and they confirmed that I would need to have a copy of the letter of recommendation along with the other documents upon arriving Spain. That really put me in a bind because it was extremely difficult for me to get someone to write the letter and when the writer finally sent it, they opted to send it directly to the office (I gave them two options...one would have been mailing it to me). Unfortunately, I had read this update in the manual a little too late...as the writer had already sent the letter and I didn't get a chance to tell them to print an extra copy off for me.

The professor who wrote mine emailed me a copy of the document before he sent it off.  It's always good to have a copy of all of your documents in case there are any doubts/hangups, but the letter of recommendation is really for the first stage of applying, or  the "screening process" in which they admit you to the program; I can't see why you would need it once you are here in Spain.

Hm, this is kind of confusing -- are you sure you're not referring to the acceptance letter, which you will receive upon placement? I don't seen anything in the manual about having to show a reference letter, other than for the application.

Here is my plan: Before leaving Spain I will have a folder filled with every document they have ever asked for plus about 5 copies of each...yes lots of paper...some may be useless...but I'm all about being prepared...this is what I plan to take to both the Visa and NIE appointment. Just to be on the safe side..The only concern I have now is finding a legal translation for my background check...any suggestions in that department?

What consulate are you going through? If you are going through Houston, you don't need any translations.

I unfortunately will be going through the Miami consulate which I have already learned will have me pulling my dreads out...so I'm trying to be as patient as humanly possible...
