Though I am happy to finally be adjudicada, I am a little bummed that I didn't get Madrid.  Extremadura seems very remote.  Has anyone been able to change their placement?

Thanks for the support everyone. It was much easier going through the wait knowing there were people who cared! : D  I'll be seeing all of you in Spain.

I emailed quite a few people, and the response I got was to be patient and I would be contacted soon. Since then, I have received a placement in my first regional choice. Have you gotten the vacancies emails and responded to them? That should speed up the process.

I just replied to the email with my name and a day or two later they offered me a spot. Maybe they just do it in the order they receive the responses? Well good luck, my sister applied last year and kept receiving those emails up until mid september, so it's definitely possible!

Hey my friend is 4904, but she still did not receive the vacancy email, could you give me the address that she should respond to? Thanks!

I feel better knowing I am not the only one who just received their adjudicada in Madrid message, now I guess I wait to find out the school info, and the Visa process.

Don't wait too long on the Visa process. Start gathering all of the necessary documents(med certificates, background check w/ Apostille, passport, Visa applications, etc) so that when you receive your "carta de nombramiento" in the mail from Madrid, that will be the last piece that you need to apply. Apparently, around this time of the year, Visa applications are taking anywhere from 2 weeks to almost 2 months to process. The sooner the better.

I got my nombramiento letter yesterday!  I'm in a small town called Navalmoral de la mata.  Its a two hour bus ride from Madrid.  So even though I didn't get my first choice, I won't be that far from the big city.  I finally got my apostille back last week so everything seems to be coming together.

I have an appointment with the Chicago consulate on Aug. 9.  Do I have to get a new doctors note since the one I used to get admitida is now over 3 months old?

Congrats on your placement!   I got my visa through Chicago and I had to get a new medical cert since mine was older than 3 months, but fortunately that's not nearly as hard as getting a new FBI bc.   :)

Just accepted a placement in Andalucia yesterday! How long is it taking to receive a letter from the school?

It took a while for mine to come from Galicia,  probably 3 weeks, but the email will come sooner than the snail mail copy. When it comes via email, print it in color and that's as good as the letters to come! You may want to schedule your visa appointment soon anyway; In NY the first appointment as of last week is September 26... which clearly doesn't work!  From there I just contacted the Consulate people, but hopefully things will go quickly for you!! Enjoy Andalucia, I studied in Granada and it was indescribably wonderful!

Aack, did anyone else not know about this 3 months for the medical certificate thing? I'm kind of hoping it doesnt hold for auxiliares since it isn't on this page:
http://www.educacion.gob.es/exterior/centros/losangeles/es/normativa/visado.shtml

But it is on the page for general visas. Did anyone get their visa with a certificate that was older than 3 months? Give me hope!

Depends on the consulate, try to check with them directly.

A couple of months ago it took me 4-5 weeks.  I've heard the the waiting time has increased over the summer.  Did you see the announcement that they'll accept a police report now for a student visa?  (I don't know if that means that you still do need the FBI bc for when you get to Spain or not)
