Cool Restaurants/Bars?

Hi everyone!

My name is Maggie and I just moved to Madrid from Texas. I'm trying to find out about restaurants and bars in Madrid that are usually not in travel catalogues and are mainly known by locals. I went to a Cafe jazz Populart in Huertas the other night which I loved because it was different than the typical night in Sol, surrounded by Americans. Do ya'll have any recommendations for places that are unique to Madrid and not filled with tourists?

Hey Maggie, I've only been in Madrid for about a month but I'm also getting tired of the "typical night in Sol"- Palentinos in Malasana has a Spanish vibe, and really cheap drinks. La Aguja in Lavapies is also good. In general, if hanging out in Malasana/ Lavapies/ La Latina you will find a plethora of cool bars!

I am sure you will find plenty of bars, restaurants and clubs to go to, Madrid is chock-full of them. There is something to suit every taste and need.

Margot, thanks for sharing some of the places that you found and enjoy. I am sure that will be helpful to many of our members.
