Hola Gente!
It has been a looooooooooong time since I've stopped by the cafe. Lo siento for my long absense.
I would like to say, I am still very much in support of the TEFL movement to get renewable visas for TEFL certified teachers. I must admit though that my focus in my own life has changed somewhat. It has been so long since my traveling days, my days of teaching English abroad, even the year and a half I spent teaching English online seems so very long ago.
I guess as time marches on and things change, so have I. I'm approaching forty in (at the time of this writing) in 498 days. That's not to say that I'm not living in the moment. I am. It's also not to say that I don't know the whole "day at a time" concept either. But I am planning a final exodus to Europe by my 40th birthday.
Thing is, part of the abovementioned goal is a contributory reason as tp why I've not visited the cafe in so long. My goal is no longer to live in Spain and teach English. My goals have changed quite a bit over the years. I am planning on moving to Paris in my fortieth year and I'm hoping to be a published author by the time I get there.
Also, I felt that as time created more and more distance from my time in Spain and my teaching abroad, sadly I felt less relevant as to what I could possibly contribute to the newbies that came to the cafe looking for answers. Oh the foibles of the human heart.
I've recently checked the petition and saw that we've got 655 signatures. Not bad, not bad....I would like to pick up the effort again and make advertisements on free ad sites.....I think the more signatures we get the more impact it will have and I fully believe in the idea of a Renewable Visa for TEFL certified teachers.
If there's anyone out there that would like to help in that effort, please don't hesitate to contact me via the cafe and we can work together to get the word out to more people.
Having said all that, I also want to say that I have missed the cafe and have missed participating in the often lively discussions on the boards. I will make the commitment to be around more. I still know a few things here and there
So to all the old timers, what's going on? How've ya been? Let's catch up! And to the newbies....well welcome to the cafe and let me just say that you're never to old to get fired up and make a dream come true.
Salud!
Michelle
