American moving to Valencia!
« on: October 23, 2009, 06:55:12 PM »
Hello everyone,

First of all, I would like to express my gratitude for this blog!  Everyone seems so helpful, and its nice to know there a lot of others out there with similar situations!

Here is my deal:  I am a 26 year old female from the US.  I have spent the past 6 months studying spanish and working for an NGO in latin america, where I met a wonderful enamorado from Valencia, Spain!  I am moving to Spain in January, and definitely need to find work.  I have a bachelors degree in Psychology, a Masters in Counseling, and tons and tons of experience working with children, and some experience teaching english.  It seems as though I have missed the deadline for applying for the education grant (really too bad), and I dont think I can get a student visa, because I am no longer a student.  I would really love to be in Spain legally, because I want to have a job, the secuirty of knowing Im not going to be deported, as well as be able to travel!

Does anyone have any suggestions for other programs that can help with visas being arranged before coming to Spain?  Is it possible to find a job once in Spain, and then work out the visa situation...?

Thank you so much!

Catalina

Hi Catalina:

Apply to be an auxiliar!  It grants you a student visa.
