Student programms for Russians?
« on: April 08, 2009, 04:01:39 PM »
Hello, I am a Russian teacher of English, who spent quite a lot of time in the USA. Beeing in the states I came in touch with the Spanish culture and flamenco (I am a dancer) and now would like to experience it more. I am trying to figure out if there are any programs for Russians to study or work in the spanish speaking countries. Spain would be ideal. My Spanish is survival. What I look for is some sort of an exchange student programms to teach (dance or English) and study Spain. Another thing is that I got my Amecan visa expired.  Will this fact influence my futher applications for other countries? It worries me a lot.
Any info on this matter is very appreciated, thanks.

I'm responding in hopes that you'll get an answer from someone who actually knows. I'm not that person, but it wouldn't hurt to get in touch with the MEPSYD and see what types of exceptions they're willing to make or if there are sister programs that would allow you to participate in the Language & Culture Assistants program (deadline is 4/15/09 for 2009-10). I've also learned in the last few months that Fulbright offers a scholarship for the same position (the deadline may have already passed) with about twice the pay and ten times the competition.

Here's the link for the North American Language & Culture Assistants in Spain program:

As for Fulbright, I believe it was someone on this forum that had more info on the topic. A forum search might prove helpful.

You must be a U.S. citizen to apply for a Fulbright as part of the U.S. student program. You can apply for the Fulbright Foreign Student program as a Russian citizen, but I think all of these scholarships are for teaching or studying in U.S.
