How to go about finding work in Spain!!
« on: March 10, 2009, 02:14:12 PM »
Hey there! Just wondering if anyone can help me!! I graduated in Spanish in 2007 and spent a year working in Valladolid as an English teacher in a private university there. I came back to London after a year and have been working as a translator here. I'm now looking to come back out to Spain to do soome more teaching or translating. I'm TEFL qualified and have plenty of experience teaching. I have worked, lived and studied in both Spain and South America and my Spanish is more or less fluent. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas where I might start looking for work. I really want to go to Andalucia somewhere, I studied for a while in Cordoba university and absolutely loved it!!!
Any ideas? Cheers... Caryn Grosvenor

Hi Caryn,

There is a program similar to the North American Language and Culture Assistants for British citizens through the British Learning Council. It pays 700 euros per month and has you teaching 12-14 hours per week in a local school. Andalucia is an option for the location. The deadline for Spain looks to be March 31. The website is: http://www.britishcouncil.org/languageassistants-ela.htm

I am not sure if this is what you were looking for, but I hope it helps!

There are jobs in Spain for foreigners, however, along the coast most jobs are seasonal. It depends largely on what you can and will be able to do. You will probably have to have a good command of the Spanish language. Most qualifications obtained in the UK and Europe are recognised in Spain. Whatever job you end up doing, If you intend to work in Spain make sure you get a contract from your employer which is at least 6 months long. This will protect you and give you the same rights as a Spanish employee.
