Non-teaching jobs in Valencia
« on: February 17, 2009, 11:42:29 AM »
Hola,
I have been offered a primary teaching job in Valencia starting in September. My fiance will be coming with me and we are looking to see how he can find a job. He currently works in an office and has been a builder, web designer and bar tender in the past! So any advice for us would be very welcome.

Hi Jess,

Welcome to the Expatriate Café forum.

Please forgive me if you already shared this information on another post, but could you give a bit more background about yourselves, country of origin, etc?

I am sure you already know that finding work that is not English teaching is tough to do without the proper visa...especially now that the economic crisis is settling in. Your fiancee can pretty much forget any jobs in construction. Does he have a degree in something where he could *try* and apply for a job here in the hopes that they offer him the required visa (if he needs one). What are his Spanish language skills like?

This information could be helpful in pointing you in the right direction!

Saludos,
Rebecca

Sorry, just re-read my message and realised it's a bit short on details! We're both English, currently living in Liverpool. I'm a primary teacher with 4 years experience and my boyfriend works in the Passport Office, he doesn't have a degree and has mainly done admin office work in his career to date. So will he need a Visa to come with me if I have a concrete full time job? It's all so new! Thanks for the help xx
