Non-EU married to an EU
« on: October 08, 2008, 05:56:27 PM »
Hi! Are non-EU passport holders who are married to EU passport holders allowed to work in Spain (or anywhere within the EU)?  Are there any requirements/restrictions or a minimum time you have to be married?  Thanks!

I'm surprised no one has answered this, short and long answer, being married to an EU passport holder is the same as holding a passport. In other words you can work here just like a Spaniard. Main thing you need to work is an NIE card

Thanks for responding , Rob, but it should be known that just because one marries an EU citizen, does not mean that his or her  life is going to be a cake walk here.  One still has to wait in lines and apply for jobs that other people are qualified for as well.

and of course you still have to get that piece of paper that allows you to work legally here, and that can be a royal hassle!
