I'm from the US, and my English friend has offered to marry me thinking that it will give me full EU living and working rights as she has. This sounds wonderful but too good to be true. Could anyone recommend where I might look to get the full story on this? Or, if you know the short and sweet, I'd appreciate some clarification.

Hi rafferty,

Welcome to the cafe!  Well, you would have to become a citizen of England and I know that in order to do that, you have to live there for five years.  That's just the beginning from what I understand.  You can check out the requirements by visiting the British Consulate General's website
