Hi Everyone,
Recently I have started communicating with Aysha Griffin, and American journalist th Spanish government recently invited (among only 5 other American business journalists) to Spain in order to promote American business.
Through her, we are looking into the most current information on how Americans can start small businesses in Spain, as well as to find out if there is a possibility of a TEFL visa for American teachers.
She is out there investigating all of this for an article she is writing; and in the meantime, I will pass along any other useful info to you all in this forum.
For starters, here is the link to Madrid Emprende's downloadable EXPAT HANDBOOK.
http://www.esmadrid.com/madridemprende/jsp/welcome.jspAccording to their Web site:
In “Living in Madrid. The Expat’s Handbook” there are all sorts of different questions answered that you may deem relevant when you are about to take residence in Madrid: entry and residence in Spain, registering in the census in Madrid, residencial areas, rental and/or purchase of of a home, hiring utilities (water, gas, electric, telephone), banks and the fiscal system, communications, transportation in the city, getting a valid Driver’s License equivalent, some security advice, the health system, the Spanish education system, bilingual education and internacional schools, the equivalency requirements of foreign studies, and of course, the enormous cultural and leisure offering available in Madrid.
More info on the way soon!
