Does anyone know where I can get a document (in English) notarized in Madrid? The American Consulate can do it, but charges a fee of 60 Euros, which seems expensive.  Thanks!

Most Notaries in Madrid charge. There\\\'s a Notary on c/ Serrano right near International House. Also, try one of the banks. Many banks generally have a notary on staff :) Core States bank has an office in Madrid and will conduct transactions in English...they too, probably have a notary that speaks/reads English.

Thnaks for the advice!  I figured I would have to pay a fee, but not 60 Euros (can\\\'t afford it).  Do you know where/how I can find a Core States bank in Madrid?

Thanks again,

JJR

Citibank goes by a couple names (Citigroup and Citibank)

Try Citibank Espana at 916 631 000
Citigroup is located at C/Jose Ortega y Gasset 29 (Citibank/Schroder Salomon Smith Barney)

:)) Don\\\'t look for a traditional bank if you go. They are in an office building on the second or third floor!

OOh! ANd as I sit perusing through the yellow pages, I see that they now have a First Union National Bank too!!
Raimundo Fernandez Villaverde, 26 (tel: 915-541-727) I think you'll have better luck with them!

Hey JJR, I was toying with the idea of having something notorized here in Madird as well a while back and a lawyer here wanted 100 Euros so I can't help but think that 60 Euros is a steal.

In the U.S.A. notorys charge much more last time I was there, I think?

So, tell us, did you do it? where? what did it end up costing you?

Saludos,
