English Speaking Playgroup Madrid
« on: January 18, 2007, 03:40:08 PM »
Hi Everyone,

Just thought I would post this here in case it might be of interest to other Expat Café members.

As many of you know, I had a baby just under a year ago (can't believe how fast time is flying by!!).

My husband and I are raising him bilingually using the OPOL method (one parent one language). To support his English lingüistic development and to introduce him to other children like him, I am forming an English speaking playgroup which has plans of meeting monthly in the northern area of Madrid (Alcobendas, Majadahonda, Plaza Castilla, Sanchinarro, etc.)...

If there is anyone who is in a similar situation (meaning with baby, etc...) and would like to participate, let me know through this forum.

Greetings to all!

Hello Everyone!

Just an update on the formation of the playgroup. Northern Stars English Playgroup has been formed and functioning since February of this year (2007). To date we have over 43 families registered and monthly activities. Some of the most popular activities have been a picnic lunch at Parque Juan Carlos I, a trip to the zoo (to talk about all the animals in English, of course!) and lastly our first annual Halloween Party! There were 28 children and 41 adults in attendance!

If you have a child aged 0-5 years who you are raising bilingually and would like to receive more information about the playgroup, send an email to northernstars.englishplaygroup at gmail dot com and we will fill you in!

For those who are looking for nanny or babysitting positions, let me know by sending an email to the above address. Many of the families are looking for assistance at home or English speaking nannies.  :)

Hello ALL,

My name is Arantza Méndez-Aguirre and my daughter went to AIS in Vienna the last year. I would love to find a playgroup in Soto de la Moraleja-Alcobendas so that she can keep all the English she learnt at school (she is half German, half Spanish, and she goes to the Swiss school at the time). Could you give me a piece of advice regarding the subject?

Thanks in advance for your time and consideration.

All the best
