Very cool, Shawn... Thanks for sharing the wealth once again. It'll be interesting to see if this thread gets 450+ replies and 15,000+ views like the other one has to date.

Contrats on starting the most successful thread in Café history. Let's see if that good mojo keeps on a workin'! B)  ;)

:o  Wow, I didn't realize so many people replied to the other one.  Many people want to come to Spain legally and here is one way to do it.

Boro,

Most Brits go to Spain, do a TEFL course there and start looking for work.  You can work in Spain legally, whereas this program allows Americans to work in Spain legally, since it is very difficult for anyone outside of the EU to get working papers.  I know of many Brits who just move to Madrid, find a job teaching, without any teaching qualifications, and get hired almost immediately.

I have noticed that now more and more academies are requiring TEFL qualifications and EU citizens to work for them.

This should get you started in the right direction.

www.tefl.com is a site with many job openings for teaching English around the world.  They have quite a few positions for Spain.

Good luck in your search,

Shawn

This reply is a bit belated, but it might help someone else. In regards to whether there is a similar program for Brits, the MEC (Ministry of Education and Science) of Spain which sponsors the North American Language and Culture Assistants program also has a similar arrangement with the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, and Belgium (possibly other countries, too). There were people from all of these countries at our Andalucia orientation in Granada this October. I saw some information about the British program at http://www.britishcouncil.org/languageassi...tants-spain.htm

There is also information in Spanish at the MEC website
http://www.mec.es/sgci/uk/es/consej/es/pro...uxiliares.shtml
Hope this helps!
Feliz 2007!

Stacy,

Thanks for the information.  It's going to be a big help to those from the EU who want to do the same thing.

Have a great school year, what's left of it.  :P

Besos,

Shawn
