Hey JeniDixon,
I believe it\'s worth it, if for confidence alone. If you already have teaching ESL experience behind you, then I\'d say no, don\'t bother. Unless you only have about a year\'s worth of experience. Then every bit extra helps. There\'s certification, but schools don\'t generally look for that. They want EXPERIENCE. What a course like that does, is familiarize you with techniques and help prepare you for making your own lesson plans. If you scan our boards a few members have taken the [!-- BBCode Start --][A HREF=\"http://www.onlinetefl.com\" TARGET=\"_blank\"]Online TEFL[/A][!-- BBCode End --] course. Most people are PLEASED. But again, I suggest you get experience if you\'re serious.
A free way to gain valuable experience is to train and then teach for [!-- BBCode Start --][A HREF=\"http://www.literacyvolunteers.org\" TARGET=\"_blank\"]Literacy Volunteers of America[/A][!-- BBCode End --] (LVA). They train you for free and they give you all the one-on-one experience you need!
