Finding work - computer graphics and web design
« on: October 17, 2002, 09:45:00 AM »
Hi folks,

I\'m a U.S. artist skilled in graphics programs and web design. Can anyone tell me how much or what kind of work is available in Spain - if any - for someone with my background? Is there a demand for such services, and are there many Spanish nationals able to provide them that I would be competing with, or does the demand outstrip the supply? Is this something the Spanish would be willing to hire a foreigner to teach them, privately or otherwise? I have no training or experience teaching English, so I don\'t know that that would be a viable option for me.

If the answers to any of these questions are favorable, I also need to learn what kind of visa situation this would put me in. I\'d really be grateful if anyone could enlighten me on any of this.

Patrick

Hi Patrick,

I\'m afraid you are up against STEEP competition. Spain is pretty well trained in the graphic arts-- ENORMOUS amounts of Spanish students study nowadays to be graphic designers/artists/web design. On the flip side, there are also many small academies that teach this in Spain. Do you speak SPanish fluently? Could you maybe seek out a temporary work exchange? OR an internship?

I believe though, that if you go to Spain looking to find permanent, full time work you will be discouraged. [addsig]
