planning ahead for a roommate?

i was just wondering if anyone else out there is like me, and really planning ahead...
i want to move to Madrid next September, and would ideally like to have a roommate...
anyone planning on studying in Madrid next year???
(this is a big-time first for me... usually the idea of advertising for someone to live w/ like this freaks me out... but new situations call for new tactics i guess, right?!??)

Hey Vieve...just so you know, lots of people have met through the spain-english message boards (of the Expatriate Cafe). I don\\\'t think there are too many weirdos that frequent this kind of page...then again, you should always take precautions.

Once you arrive though, friendships often times crop up as fast as it takes to make instant soup!

Hey Lisita, if your Spanish is good there is a new agency here that sets up internships, they are at [!-- BBCode auto-link start --][a href=\"http://www.tcs-fss.com\" target=\"_blank\"]www.tcs-fss.com[/a][!-- BBCode auto-link end --] and are located in Madrid. They can set uo a homestay, normal accommodatons and an internship bit only deal with people who can read, write, understand and speak Spanish well.

Hey Jer,
   I would love to use FSS\\\' services!  I speak, read, and write fluently, but I am not a member of the EU, and I just graduated with my Bachelor\\\'s degree.  Their requirements state that you must be an enrolled student for insurance purposes, and an member of the EU. Is there any way that I could get a hold of Esther\\\'s email address to ask about that?  Thanks so much for the info!!! I\\\'m open to any other suggestions!

I am moving to Barcelona in April and I would like to know where the best places are to live, where to find rooms to rent, etc. I have already researched housing and I would also like to know how much rooms go for there. Do you have to put down a deposit, etc? Ideally, I would like to stay with someone who was in the same boat as I am or fairly similar: I\\\'m 25, American, moving to Barcelona in April in the hopes of finding a teaching job or ANY job that would keep me there indefinitely. Hey Lisita, sorry for the late response, been busy with my site.

I do not know if you need to be both an EU national and a student to use her internship placement services, I think it is either or, not both. They are currently redesigning their website since the current version is very out of date. Oh well, can\\\'t hurt to e-mail her but please write her in Spanish.

Hola Theron, hmmmmm... the best place to live is in Madrid :-D  but if you insisit on moving to Barcelona, yes you will be asked for a one (or 2) month deposit plus the first months rent when you take a room or an apartment. A room in a share apt. in Barcelona can vary in price depending on where you want to live (what area). Prices should not exceed 325 Euros per month though.

You may want to try the [!-- BBCode auto-link start --][a href=\"http://www.barcelonametropolitan.com\" target=\"_blank\"]www.barcelonametropolitan.com[/a][!-- BBCode auto-link end --] classified ads sectrion for info on room prices.
