Options For Americans
« on: January 31, 2006, 04:31:18 PM »
I fell in love with Barcelona on a vacation two years ago, and have since been obsessed with the idea of moving there to teach English. But all my research has turned up some very discouraging facts. I'm still planning to go to Barcelona for the Cambridge CELTA program (I've heard it's the best - please weigh in if you have an opinion on that!), but I'm wondering if I should postpone living and working in Spain until I have some experience under my belt. I've read that it's easier for non-EU teachers to get work in Eastern European countries. Which ones? What about in Asia? Where is it easiest for an American to work legally? What about getting certified in Barcelona (mainly for the before and after travel possibilities) and then returning to the U.S. to teach English as a foreign language? Has anyone done this?
