Spam E-mails
« on: November 28, 2005, 02:24:49 AM »
Hi Tony,

This website is great and I've learned a lot, since signing on, but I'm seriously concerned by the spam e-mails I'm receiving, via this
e-group!

Who moderates that aspect?  Does anyone?

Obviously, such messages open up our systems to the possibilities of viruses, so could you find a way to rid this network of spammers, as soon as they appear? Zap them and boot them out - si?        :ny2005:

Thanks very much,
Zorrasabia.

Hi zorrasabia... This is the first I'm hearing of this. We have a strict policy of not tolerating Spam in any way, shape or form. Please forward me some examples of what you are receiving as well as any other pertinent info that could help me determine who is sending it. Be warned!! We will swiftly and immediately ban anyone found to be using this platform to send Spam to our members!

You can email me at: tony@expatriatecafe.com. Thank you for posting about this.

Spam E-mails

Hi again zorrasabia. Though my offer still stands to ban anyone sending Spam to you or anyone else via this platform, I thought I'd add some extra information for everyone's better understanding of how we have the board set-up to best ensure safe surfing and Café con leche drinking around here...:)

Okay, here it is: I wanted to point out to the Café users that we use what are called: Secure Email Forms for any email sent via the Café. What this means is that, anyone trying to email you via the board never gets to see your actual email address unless you write them back. This is hidden from them via the Form.

We do this on purpose to avoid the possibility of any type of Spam related abuse. Though I'd still recommend telling myself or someone else on the Café Moderator team of the situation so we can ban any abusers, I thought I'd point out that most popular eMail clients and services offer you the possibility of marking  undesirable senders as Spamers so any further messages from them are automatically deleted. Just a pertinent FYI I thought I'd throw in there.
