Exactly How Much Help Is Being An Eu Citizen?
« on: October 24, 2005, 08:28:11 AM »
I have Italian citizenship purely by virtue of the fact that my father is Italian.  I speak no Italian and have almost no connection with Italy, however.  As I understand it, being an EU citizen makes working in Spain easier.

So anyway, I studied abroad in Spain, speak decent Spanish, and I'm thinking as sort of a \"plan B\" I could always teach English in Spain.  However, I hear it's quite difficult to find work, yet these warnings always seem to come with the qualification \"if you're not an EU citizen.\"

So my question is...for EU citizens who are native English speakers, how easy is it to find a job teaching English?

Also, I will have a J.D. in about a year and a half.  Do employers care about this?  And does my experience teaching English as a T.A. in college count as \"teaching experience\"?

Thanks.

YES IT COUNTS A WHOOOOLLLEE LOT.   :)   fantastic for you if you already have EU citizenship status through your father...as an American its not impossible to find work teaching English (I speak from experience) but potential employers won´t bat an eye if they know they can employ you \"the right way\", at least I´ve found that to be true because I am in the same boat you are (well, nearly.  I have Italian citizenship waiting for approval).  As for you J.D., I dont know if that matters or not, but any and all teaching experience will shed a favorable light on you!  Suerte!!
