Spanish language schools - the whole nine yards!
« on: September 20, 2002, 02:34:00 AM »
Sheesh.  I am trying to decide between attending a language school (in Barcelona or Sevilla) or doing an (unpaid) internship for 6-7 months in the same cities.  But there are TONS of options according to my online searches...which is a good and bad thing, how does one decide?  Which will improve my Spanish more - being an intern or a student?  Anyone out there who can recommend a good program or school?   [IMG SRC=\"modules/phpBB_14/images/smiles/icon_laughing.gif\"]

Alternatively, I have thought of taking the \'ole student route and enrolling in a semester-long Spanish program through a university...that way I could get a student visa and not have to worry about the "illegal" status!

A word from the wise would be fantastic.  By the way, your site (tracy) rules!!

Note: the programs I have looked into so far are:

Adelante Spain (www.adelantespain.com) - semester in Sevilla

COINED Spain (www.coined-spain.org) - internships in Barcelona

Enforex Spain (www.enforex.com) - language school (in BCN or Madrid)

Thanks, Courtney

hey there,

Studying Spanish can be really expensive at the institutes..... the cheapest go for like 110 Euroes a week for 15 hours.  Consider the fact that u are more than likely not to be working full time, it is a rather costly experience. Want to study Spanish? Try hitting the bars and striking up conversations with people. Spanish people are pretty friendly lot.

Come with lots of money!

Cheers,

How did i miss this post?? Thanks Queen, for your compliment! I think I would like the internship that didn\'t pay and like Porter said, submerse yourself with Spaniards outside a classroom setting. For the sake of learning a language, a University is a waste of $$. There are private language schools that are MUCH cheaper than what you\'d pay at a U. What\'s more, once you\'re in Spain, you can network yourself like crazy and maybe pick up a part-time paying job.
