Hi Lezzie
My name is Juan Carlos. I have seen your ad in the board and decided to give you some help.
I am a native South African of Spanish origin living in Salamanca since I was 12 but I have worked in Ireland and UK.
Well let's go to the point since I think I can help you. I am starting my own business in Salamanca province as a business advisor in marketing and management/translator/interpretor so I have the same problems as you.
There are two basic taxes for autonomos ( self- employed )
The social security or seguridad social where you pay a basic and you have no unemployment rights although there are private companies ofering this supplement.
And the IRPF ( an income tax ) the rates of which vary.
You have discounts on the income tax for your business purposes.
There is also an IVA tax ( or VAT ) which is done every third month I think.
Besides this there is not much complication.
ON THE IRPF side of things there is what are termed MODULOS or modules whereby you will be allocated a tax regime so to speak depending on what activity you are going into. That is entirely up to the tax office.
