teaching in Madrid
« on: May 10, 2005, 11:44:29 PM »
Hey, you guys.
I have been reading your posts here for a few weeks and i want to thank all you guys; the cafe has been really helpfull!!
I'm from Toronto living in N.Y and planning to go to Madrid this summer,I'm taking a tesol course here and hope to find a job there. I've been thinking about doing this for a while now and just finally made the decission.

Just wondering if you guys that have been there for a while can give a few tips: such as okay area to live, not too expensive and is there such a thing as a bad part of town, apartaments or anything else that might be helpful.
And one more thing that i have been wondering about is other than teaching what are the chances of finding work in the business field (i speak fluent Spanish).

Again thank you all for your postings; hope to see u guys soon and buy you a beer!!

Gary

Hi there Gary_n.y. Welcome to the café! We're happy to have your participation...Your query may have been a tad too general to be honest with you. That could be why it's taken a while to get you a response. No big deal but I'd recommend you do some Café Forum surfing and  :cafe: SEARCHING :book: on this topic as well as there's quite a bit around if you look for it. For example:

We have a thread on this general topic RIGHT HERE. Although there is some good info on this thread, it could use some more participation and contribution. Maybe you could revive it and set us on the road to keeping a nice collection of information on this important topic!  :D  B)

Also, I may recommend you take a look over the significant collection of Housing and Rental Agency links on our main site that could help you with this task.

I would consider looking thoroughly through the Finding Work in Spain forum just like Café Forum member 'duende' did recently with a similar query on THIS THREAD and got some great feedback.

I hope this doesn't at all come across as a cyber-scolding but rather as a golden opportunity to better learn how to get the most of the rich information available on this site for your benefit. We hope to see more of you around here and best of luck with your journey, wherever it may take you!  ;)  B)
