Murcia?
« on: September 04, 2002, 07:42:00 PM »
[IMG SRC=\"modules/phpBB_14/images/smiles/icon_confused.gif\"]  I am moving to Spain next year and I am looking for the best place to live on the coast. I saw a TV program the other day about moving to Spain and the place Murcia on the southern coast came up as an up and coming and popular area that people from the UK are moving to. Does anyone know anything about this place, such as is is expensive to live there, is there any British companies in the area and anything else I might need to know about the area. I plan to visit Spain in Jan/Feb to check different areas out and I was wondering if this place was worth a look. I appreciate any help and advice you may give me.

Muchas gracias

Hi.  Merica is on the Costa Calida.  It\'s ok there but not as scenic as some other places.  It is becoming quite built up and a huge amount of Brits are moving there.  House prices are cheaper there.  Lots of English pubs and bars which are great if you like that sort of thing. (I don\'t!) Have a good look round when you go over before you settle on an area.  I spent a long time looking and settled on Northern Costa Blanca.

The whole region has the best climate in Spain and has been voted by the World Health Organisation as the healtiest place to live.[addsig]

[IMG SRC=\"modules/phpBB_14/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif\"]  Thanks for your reply Sibsie. Well it doesn\'t sound all that bad to me! Being a Brit I like the sound of all the English pubs and bars!!  [IMG SRC=\"modules/phpBB_14/images/smiles/icon_nod.gif\"]

But as you say I should have a good look around different areas when I visit. I really need to find a Graphic Design company to employ me and I need it to be on the coast. I have been doing my research and have found a Design company called \'Alsur\' in Fuengirola, Malaga, which I like the sound of. So I am going to write to them to see if they have anything to offer. But in the meantime if anybody knows of any other Graphic Design companies (preferably English) along the coast please let me know as I should really get a few on the go, \'cause I would rather do one visit for any interviews I might get!

Thanks again for your help

You\'re welcome.  I\'m a Brit too but wanted to get away from all that.  [IMG SRC=\"modules/phpBB_14/images/smiles/icon_beer.gif\"]

Costa Del Sol where Malaga is, is a lot more expensive for property but out in the Andalucian country it\'s a bit cheaper.  Lots and lots of English bars over there.  I have a Spanish friend in Benaldemena Costa who lives in a large urbanisation and doesn\'t have a single Spanish neighbour, so at least the language isn\'t a barrier down there.   But I still think you need to learn Spanish if you haven\'t already.  It makes a huge difference to life when you can intergrate.  Even if you can only speak a teeny bit people really appreciate it and no one ever laughs at how bad it is. Thanks again for the reply Sibsie. I probably will look more inland also but I will have to live wherever I find a job, but I still hope it is on the coast. I have always lived by the sea in the UK and that is one thing I don\'t really want to change. I just want to live in a better climate and a nicer country. Also I start my Spanish lessons in October!!  [IMG SRC=\"modules/phpBB_14/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif\"]

Thanks

Paul
